50-56 Ford Truck Oak Bed Wood Kit – Short Bed – Stepside 6′-6″ Bed

$325.00

Red Oak wood Bed Floor for short bed 1950 – 1956 Ford F1 & F100 pickup trucks (stepside beds). We mill it in our shop from regional lumber hand selected for clarity and grain pattern. Rabbetted edges are milled where bed strips sit. You must mark and drill a few holes along each bedside through the new wood. These holes can vary between bedsides. It’s safer to wait to drill them once your bed is assembled for mockup. We also add the rabbet in the end of the wood by the tailgate where the bed wood cover strip sits. We also cut the round holes in for the large bed hold down washers and bolts. They are recessed into the bed floor flush to the face of the wood.

Comes unfinished – you prep and finish it your way

Finishing Tips: Sand with a block or orbital sander with 150, 180 & finally 220 grit sandpaper. Surface should be smooth with no splinters left on the edges of the boards. Stain if desired (you will usually want to stain red oak). Interior varnish will not withstand the elements (sun, rain etc). Use a marine varnish that is made to withstand rain and UV/sunlight. Apply marine varnish to all sides and holes in the boards. Sand between coats. Apply several coats. Usually 2-3 is the minimum for adequate protection. Consult the marine varnish instructions you are using.

If you would like a different species of wood, let us know. We should be able to provide it. (White Oak, Maple etc.)
